Interests

InterestsI enjoy high-end stereo and have a considerable vinyl and CD collection, also enjoy movies and have perhaps 3-400 on DVD and LaserDisc. I don't bike as much as I used to, but still get a kick out of that and bowling as well. I've read science/fiction for years and write some, both fiction/fantasy and some non-fiction, as well as the odd op-ed piece. I VERY MUCH ENJOY INTELLIGENT CONVERSATION!!!
MusicClassical - 20th century: Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Debussy, Ravel, Gershwin and Copland as well as the heavies (Bach, Beethoven, etc) and many MANY others!

Jazz - Most especially Oregon, but also Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays

Rock - The classic stuff: Beatles, Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell, Ricki Lee Jones, Eagles, lots of other stuff.
MoviesRight now my all-time favorite is The Green Mile, which to me is a modern day classic. Also enjoy the ORIGINAL Star Wars (the prequel is a LOSER!), Star Trek, Last Samurai, Matrix (the first was the best!). More recently, the work of Christopher Nolan, especially Inception and Interstellar, have impressed me a LOT.

I like LOTS of other stuff, but that's what comes to mind at the moment
TelevisionDon't watch as much as I used to, but still like Law & Order and CSI:Miami. Enjoyed most of the Star Trek series and Babylon 5. Caught Firefly AFTER Fox screwed it up - it is some PREMIUM S/F IMHO.
BooksNumber 1 with a bullet for me is the work of Robert Heinlein, most especially Stranger in a Strange Land and Job: A Comedy of Justice. I have read very nearly EVERYTHING the man wrote. Also enjoy Isaac Asimov as it comes to S/F. Have read a fair amount of Tom Clancy and Al Gore's "An Assault on Reason," which is excellent.
