Web Browsers That Work With LifeOUT.com

LifeOUT.com requires a fairly recent release of web browser that provides both javascript and cookie functionality. LifeOUT.com should work with the following browsers:

  • Mozilla Firefox 1.5+
  • Internet Explorder 6.0+
  • Apple Safari 2.0+

While other browsers may work with LifeOUT.com, we can provide no guarantee of this.

Your Profile

The LifeOUT.com profile is currently based after a Myspace(tm)-like profile format. As such, you should be able to use most Myspace codes in your profile. You can simply insert the codes into the same area as you would on a Myspace profile from within the profile editor.

You can make modifications to your profile by choosing "edit profile" from the main menu.

Posting Photos

Photos can be posted to your profile by choosing "my photos" from the main menu.

From the Photo Manager, you can add or delete photos, add or edit photo captions, set the privacy mode for your photos, or choose your default photo.

We provide three privacy modes for photos:

  • Public - anyone can see the photo
  • Friends and Unlock - anyone on your friends list or anyone you unlock the photo for can see the photo
  • Unlock only - only members you unlock the photo for can view it

To unlock your photos for a member, choose "unlock photos" from their profile.

Social Networking Features

Friends

You can invite other members to become your friends (or visa versa) at LifeOUT.com. To invite someone to be your friend, choose "Add Friend" from their profile. This will send a notification to them that you wish to become their friend. They can then choose to accept or decline your request.

Someone else may request to become your friend. If this happens, you will receive a notification in your site mail of this. You will then be able to view these friend requests and you can approve or decline them. To see your unapproved friend requests, choose "connections" from the menu and then choose "unapproved" from the drop-down menu list.

You may make any number of your friends "top friends". You can choose your top friends by choosing "connections", selecting the friends section, and then checking the "top friend" checkbox for any member you wish to be shown as a "top friend".


Favorites

You are also able to create a list of favorite profiles or members. You can add someone to your favorites list by choosing "add favorite" from their profile.

You may make any number of your favorites "top favorites". You can choose your top favorites by choosing "connections", selecting the favorites section, and then checking the "top favorite" checkbox for any member you wish to be shown as a "top favorite".


Blocks

Occasionaly you may wish to block a member from contacting you. You may do this by choosing "block member" from their profile.


User Notes

You can add private notes about a member by choosing "user notes" from their profile and entering your notes. These private notes are saved about a member, and can only be viewed by you.


Site Mail

We provide a full featured mail system that allows you to send and receive messages from other members on the site. To send a message to a member on the site, simply choose "send message" from their profile. To read and manage mail you've received, choose "mail" from the menu. From here, you can read message, create and manage mail folders, and manage any mail that you've received or sent.


Blogs

We offer the option to post blogs to your profile. A blog is essentially an online journal. You have several privacy settings that you can choose from for your entries:

  • Public - anyone can see the entry
  • Friends - anyone on your friends list can read your entry
  • Private - only you can read the entry


Groups

A group can be started by anyone for a particular topic that allows members to gather and communicate about that particular topic. The member who creates the group will become the administrator of that group, and has control over the settings for that group, including options for making that group private.
